handmade jewelryOne of my favorite things to window shop for is handmade jewelry. I have so much respect for the artisans who make the handmade jewelry out of all sorts of materials. People who buy handmade jewelry are also supporting artists who have dedicated themselves to making gorgeous jewelry, sometimes out of really inexpensive materials like colorful pages from magazines or paper. Other artists make the jewelry from precious metals and gemstones. Both expensive and inexpensive handmade jewelry can be so beautiful. Good places to find jewelry that people have made themselves are websites they have put up or at etsy.com where many people sell their handmade goods. Other places are at flea markets or community areas that let people come to show their handmade goods, jewelry or not. Sometimes community fairs let people set up tables to display their goods and sell to the public. When you buy jewelry from these people, you are supporting the artistic community, and in these hard times, your purchase will be appreciated by the artists and the extended family that surrounds the world of people who choose to make a living using their creativity.
