handmade jewelry


When I was in High School, a long, long time ago...I took an elective art class that included the creation of handmade jewelry. The instructor taught the craft of lost wax handmade jewelry.

I took to the handmade jewelry methods quickly. I recall the ease with which the wax could be manipulated to make obscure shapes. If an error was made it could simply be corrected and changes made before finishing the piece of handmade jewelry.

When my mother passed away I went was given her jewelry box. The memories came flooding in as I opened a drawer and found several handmade jewelry pieces I had made for her while in that High School art class. The pins and rings I had created were amateurish at best but my mother proudly wore them. She would always tell her friends how great she thought these items were. 

I now wear the pins and rings on occasion myself! Not because I think they are so great but only because the handmade jewelry reminds me of my Mom and her unconditional love for me!
