handmade jewelry

Yesterday my friend and I went to a local farmers market, before we left, I put on a pair of earrings that I made, I haven't had a chance to show them off before this.  One of the first tables I stopped at made a comment about them and we chatted for a bit.  As I looked around at the various vendors, I checked out all the people selling handmade jewelry.  I kept commenting about how I could make this, or she asked if I could make that. A lot of it was like the handmade jewelry I already make.

One table I stopped at and looked around had anklets they were selling.  I picked one up, wanting to see how she made them thinking they were nothing more than stretch cord, but I found she put a toggle on the end, and used a different type of cord.  They were cute, but they weren't hard to make, to be honest.  Here's a quick handmade jewelry project for anklets that will keep you occupied for plenty of time, making countless anklets.

You will simply need:
stretch cord
scissors
masking tape
beads
super glue

Simply measure the cord around your ankle, giving yourself an inch on both ends to tie a surgeons knot.  One thing I do is to not cut the cord until I finish, which gives me a little more flexibility in terms of length.  I check it against my ankle and when I have the desired length, I wrap a piece of masking tape on the one end, then give myself a good tail and cut the other end.  The next part of this handmade jewelry project is to secure the ends with a surgeons knot.  Simply watch this youtube video, it's easier to figure it out than having me try to explain it.  Finally, the last step in this handmade jewelry project is to snip the ends of the cord (after it's been knotted) and secure it with a couple drop so f super glue.  Once the glue is dry, you can start wearing your new anklet.

There you have it, a quick, and easy handmade jewelry project that will give you loads of options as far as what you can make and wear this summer.
